I have been making jewelry professionally
since 1989, and every day I learn something new! My career in jewelry
started quite by accident, I was making pieces for myself and friends,
and so many people stopped me and asked "where did you get
that", so I started to market my work. When I was a child
I made jewelry out of objects I found, wire, buttons, and seeds
from the garden. I loved them all!
Today I collaborate with my husband
Ardy (Ardy@DonaleeDesigns.com),
who does a lot of the stone cutting and polishing. Often we even
go out in the field and find the raw materials, laying on the ground
just waiting for us. Once we get the precious raw material in the
studio (which is actually our garage), the stones guide the design
process. Each stone has its own character, and so each piece is
unique.
Prior to designing and making jewelry
my career included: being a buyer for a major department store,
a regional manager for a international manufacturing company, and
owning my own retail stores. Now, through the magic of technology,
Im putting all my experiences together and offering them to
you in the form of wearable art.
